Introduction Program

Instructional Music Lessons

With trained professional music educators who will work with you one on one to meet all your musical needs. We offer private music lessons on most instruments, included are:

Guitar lessons, Bass lessons, Piano lessons, Vocal lessons, Drum lessons, Woodwinds, Strings, and Brass. We also offer lessons on Banjo, Mandolin, and Ukelele.

Topics include: Sight Reading Melodies, Improvising, Theory and Harmony, Reading rhythms and Music fundamentals. Styles will include: Classical, Rock, Jazz, Band, Country, Blues, Latin, Ethnic and Popular.

All students will have the opportunity to play in our monthly performances, which are held every last Saturday of the month. The concerts are performed in our studio with two performances, one at 4 pm and 7 pm.

Guitar Ensemble

This class provides music for guitar Duets, Trios and Quartets. Arranged for easy guitar to more advanced. Students will learn to read standard, music notation as well as reading rhythms and musical signs. Our group classes are kept small for proper attention to detail and technique. No more than four students will make up our ensembles.

This group has three placements:

• Novice (no musical experience)

• Beginning (6 months to one year reading music)

• Intermediate (2 years with an instructor)

Jazz Guitar Workshop

For the guitarist with minimum two years experience in reading notation and rhythms. Students will learn how to read lead sheets, chord symbols, improvise and understanding musical signs. Most of our students start out by taking private guitar lessons, then when ready get placed in our Jazz ensemble with other students with equal experience and ability. We also offer the same workshop for students that play other instruments as well. Classes will focus on playing Jazz standards, Modal jazz tunes, and Jazz blues based music.

Ages 15 - Adult

Rock Guitar Workshop

Created for the beginning guitarist as well as the intermediate. Students will learn chord diagrams, soloing, arpeggios, improvising, reading Tab Technique, Diatonic Harmony and Rhythm style playing. Just like the Jazz ensemble students, they usually start out by taking private guitar lessons and the teachers recommend supplementing their private lessons with a workshop. Like the Jazz class our rock workshop is not only guitar based, we have ensembles that have full rhythm sections with vocals as well.

Ages 8 – Adult

Blues Guitar Workshop

Created for the beginning guitarist as well as students with two years or more playing experience. Students will learn basics of Blues concepts including twelve and eight bar blues, blues scales, Shuffle and Texas swing. Blues harmony and Chord structures as well as improvising will also be introduced in this unique style of music. Our Blues workshop study the music of B.B. King, Muddy Waters, as well as The Allman Brothers, Stevie Ray Vaughn and many other blues icons. Our Blues guitar workshop is also open to other instrumentation to form a full rhythm section with vocals.

Art Lessons

Children's Art Class

Our Kids Art Classes are designed for ages 5 to teens. Your child will learn the basic principles of composition, color, perspective, and shading. We use a variety or mediums such as oil pastels, pencil, watercolors, markers and acrylic paint. Students are encouraged to work on individual projects, as well as group lessons. Students will also be introduced to the work of master artists such as Monet, Picasso, Pollock, and Warhol. Our Art classes are one hour in length designed around the students outside schedule and is usually maintained on a weekly basis. The cost of art lessons is a flat rate of $65.00 per month and covers any month with a fifth week added to it.

Adult Art Class

Our Adult Art Classes are geared to all levels and abilities. Participants will work on an individual basis as well as group projects. We will cover different styles of painting, drawing and discuss various master artists and their techniques, such as impressionism, cubism, abstract, and post modern. Our adult art classes are one hour in length designed around the students outside schedule and is usually maintained on a weekly basis. The cost of adult art lessons is $25.00 per lesson.

Private Art Instruction

We also offer one-on-one art instruction with embroidery artist and painter, John V Gioia. John is a professional artist, and has created artwork for the embroidery industry for over 10 years. He is also an award winning painter. John's lessons are relaxed and informal catering to the wants and needs of the student. Topics range from impressionism, cubism, abstract, as well as post modern art. Students will also exam sketching, watercolor, pastels, oils, and the use of acrylics. Portfolios preperation is also discussed and taught, as well as preparing young students that want to study in an a higher education format. Portfolio Preparation (Teen)

Whether you are applying to college, University, or another art and design based course, you will need a portfolio to showcase your work, ideas and skills. Choosing what to include in your portfolio can be difficult because there are no definite rules or instructions, so it's something that only you can really decide. Most art programs will request artworks that fall into 3 different categories; observational art, personal art or a home exam. Sometimes only works from one of these categories is required, whereas sometimes you will need to submit all three types.

The most important thing is to always check exactly what the college/university you are applying to requires. Guidelines differ between each course and each each school.

Cartooning

Students will bring their favorite stories to life as they become familiar with professional illustrator techniques including, pen and ink drawings, watercolor paintings, and cartooning! Drawing inspiration from the likes of Edward Gorey, Maurice Sendak, Roz Chast, Saul Steinberg and Eric Carle, young artists will build a vocabulary using these techniques.

Students will sketch and brainstorm their own visual stories starting with simple sketches and working their way up to a sequential narrative from their imagination. We will address methods of drawing from both observation and imagination, tying into the fields of comics, illustration, fine art, character design, and animation.

Voice Lessons

From posture to pitch, our instructors will teach you to sing like you never believed you could. Our singing lessons will help you read and sing music effortlessly.
